RATT – Shame, Shame, Shame

In 1990, RATT released their fifth studio album, Detonator. This was the first album they had released that didn’t go platinum, and it signified the beginning of the end for them as the album was released right at the beginning of the grunge rock invasion. They did get a fair amount of airplay on MTV for this video though for Shame, Shame, Shame. But, it was clear that cheesy glam rock videos were quickly growing out of favor with both MTV and teenagers alike. Enjoy!

Jon Bon Jovi – Blaze of Glory

Skid Row – I Remember You

In 1990, Skid Row was on top of the world and this song was huge for them. Can you believe that Sebastian Bach played Jesus Christ a few years ago on Broadway in the play Jesus Christ Superstar? Recently, Sebastian was on the VH1 series SuperGroup with Ted Nugent, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Jason Bonham and Evan Seinfeld from Biohazard. During the show, they formed a band called Damnocracy, during which they lived in a mansion in Las Vegas for twelve days and created music. The series ended with the band playing a live concert and supposedly they had recorded some other songs and their was talk of an album. We’ll see. For now, enjoy classic Skid Row with “I Remember You”.

Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby

Before you get mad, I realize this isn’t a rock song. But, I can’t help but feature it because of how huge this song was in 1990. Poor Vanilla Ice has been ridiculed non-stop since he released this song. It’s kind of like in country music when Billy Ray Cyrus released Achy Breaky Heart. He’ll never live that one down. No matter what they both do, their still remembered for that one song. It’s fun to watch this video though. I’m not a fan of rap music at all, but for some reason, I like watching this video. Enjoy!

In 1990, AC/DC released their album, The Razor’s Edge, and the first single off the album was this song, Thunderstruck. I saw AC/DC in concert in 1990 in Tallahassee, FL, and it’s still one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Enjoy this video! It gives you a great sense of what a concert with them is like. Good old-fashioned rock n’ roll.
