Bulls on Parade is one of Rage Against The Machine’s most recognized songs. It’s a track from their 1996 album Evil Empire. The song has an original guitar solo that sounds more like a turntable than a guitar. Bulls on Parade charted on the Billboard Hot 100 (#62), Mainstream Rock (#36) and the Modern Rock charts (#11). Alice in Chains – Would?

Posted in 1992 Songs, Alice in Chains, Alternative Rock, Grunge Rock, Hard Rock on December 3, 2008 by pelicancup

Would? was a 1992 single by Alice in Chains. It was on their ’92 album Dirt as well as appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Singles. Guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell wrote the song about the late Mother Love Bone lead singer, Andrew Wood.

Here is what Jerry said about the song, “I was thinking a lot about Andrew Wood at the time. We always had a great time when we did hang out, much like Chris Cornell and I do. There was never really a serious moment or conversation, it was all fun. Andy was a hilarious guy, full of life and it was really sad to lose him. But I always hate people who judge the decisions others make. So it was also directed towards people who pass judgments.”

Sonic Youth – Sunday

Posted in 1998 Songs, Alternative Rock, Sonic Youth on October 11, 2008 by pelicancup

Sunday was the first and only single Sonic Youth released from their 1998 album A Thousand Leaves. The video is pretty strange as it features Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner in both fast and slow motion scenes as well as mixed scenes of a ballerina. It’s definitely not your typcial punk rock band video. Enjoy!
