One Week by the Barenaked Ladies is the song that rocketed the band into superstardom outside of their native Canada. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for one week in 1998 and was on top of the Billboard Modern Rock charts for four weeks as well. This is their only top ten single on the Hot 100 charts so far. In 1991, Violent Femmes released their 5th studio album called Why Do Birds Sing? It was their best album in terms of commercial success. The first song on the album, American Music, rose all the way up to #2 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts. It may have been a big success on the charts, but it’ll never match the appeal of their earlier songs like Add It Up and Blister in the Sun. Enjoy!

In 1991, Drivin N’ Cryin broke through with their first and only top 20 single on the US Modern Rock charts with Fly Me Courageous. I love Drivin N’ Cryin, and if you’ve never heard of them, I recommend you buy their 1989 CD, Mystery Road. It’s one of the best CD’s I own. Enjoy!
